Corrections Policy
Last Updated: 7 September 2026
Press Media UK is committed to accuracy, transparency and responsible journalism.
We understand that errors can sometimes occur during the reporting, editing or publication of news. When a significant factual error is identified, we aim to review the matter promptly and make an appropriate correction or update.
1. Our Commitment to Accuracy
Press Media UK makes reasonable efforts to ensure that published news is accurate and properly sourced.
Our editorial team may review details including:
- Names and identities
- Dates and locations
- Official figures
- Statements and quotations
- Police and court information
- Government or council information
- Other significant factual details
If reliable evidence shows that published information is incorrect, we will consider an appropriate correction.
2. What Counts as a Correction?
A correction may be appropriate when an article contains a significant factual error that could materially mislead readers.
Examples may include:
- An incorrect name
- An incorrect location
- An incorrect date
- An inaccurate figure
- Incorrect information about a charge or court outcome
- A materially inaccurate statement presented as fact
Minor spelling, grammar or formatting changes may be corrected without a formal correction notice where they do not affect the meaning of the article.
3. How to Request a Correction
If you believe an article contains a factual error, please contact us at:
Email: info@pressmediauk.com
Please include:
- The title of the article
- The article URL
- The specific information you believe is incorrect
- The corrected information
- Reliable evidence or a source supporting the correction
Providing specific evidence helps us review the matter more efficiently.
4. How We Review Correction Requests
Correction requests are reviewed on their individual merits.
Where appropriate, we may:
- Check the original source
- Review official statements or documents
- Compare information with reliable sources
- Contact relevant individuals or organisations
- Review the article’s original reporting and publication context
Submitting a correction request does not automatically mean that an article will be changed.
We may decline a correction request where the published information is supported by reliable evidence or where the request concerns an issue of opinion rather than fact.
5. Corrections to Crime and Court Reports
We take particular care with reports involving arrests, allegations, criminal investigations and court proceedings.
If an article incorrectly reports a person’s legal status, charge, conviction, acquittal or other significant court information, we will review the matter and make an appropriate correction where necessary.
Where a person has been accused, arrested or charged, this should not be presented as proof of guilt.
6. Corrections and Article Updates
Depending on the nature and significance of an error, Press Media UK may:
- Correct the information within the article
- Add a correction or clarification note
- Update the headline where necessary
- Update the article with a later confirmed development
- Correct an error without a formal notice where the change is minor
The appropriate approach will depend on the nature of the error and its impact on readers.
7. Corrections to Published Information
When a significant correction is made, we aim to maintain transparency about the change.
Where appropriate, a correction note may explain that information in the original publication has been corrected.
We do not intentionally conceal significant factual corrections.
8. Clarifications
Not every update represents a correction.
An article may be updated when additional verified information becomes available after publication.
For example, an initial report may later be updated following:
- A police statement
- A court hearing
- A council announcement
- A government statement
- A response from an organisation or individual
- Confirmation of previously unverified information
Such updates may add context or new information without meaning that the original report was factually incorrect at the time of publication.
9. Right of Reply
Where appropriate, Press Media UK may consider relevant responses or statements from individuals or organisations referred to in our reporting.
A response does not necessarily mean that the original article was inaccurate. Where relevant, it may provide additional context or represent another side of a matter.
10. Removal of Published Articles
A request for a correction does not automatically result in the removal of an article.
In most circumstances, correcting or updating an article is preferable to removing accurate historical reporting.
Requests for removal will be considered separately and on their individual circumstances.
11. Editorial Independence
Press Media UK considers correction requests independently.
Commercial relationships, advertising arrangements or other external pressures should not determine whether a genuine factual correction is made.
Our primary consideration is the accuracy and integrity of the published information.
